Bandwidth & Donations
Some of you might have seen it: This site was down during the past two days because it reached its bandwidth limit.
I hope this is not gonna happen often. The bandwidth limit of my hosting plan is 100 GB, for which I pay a monthly $124.95. If the HTML Graph Applet requires more than 100 Gigs a month, well, then that's how it is, but I just cannot increase the bandwidth anymore. I feel like $125 per month is already enough for hosting an applet.
I have used Google AdSense to pay part of the costs, but that doesn't work anymore, because of reasons outlined earlier on this blog. I have a donation button on the applet page, but despite 616,532 applet views, I have only received one single donation of $3.
That's fine with me - I must confess that I have never made an online donation in my life so far. It's just that this doesn't pay the bandwidth costs either.
