Living without Google - a self experiment
After last week's episode with Google, my first reaction was: Screw Google. I mean, any company that treats you like that - and I haven't heard from Google since I last wrote about the story - is out of the window in a second, right?
But actually, Google is part of my daily life to a shocking extent. Can I live without Google for, say, a month? To answer this question, I decided to experiment on myself, and avoid anything where Google is involved.
Google Search will be the hardest. Yahoo? MSN? Snap? Are there any serious alternatives? I'll see.
Google Local & Google Earth: Another tough one.
Blogspot: My other blog at blogspot has to go down. Blogspot is Google is evil.
Gmail: Thank God I don't use that. Never trust your life (i.e. email) to a single company.
Adwords, Adsense: No. Whenever I see a blog with AdSense ads, I will click on the ads wildly - be ready for an email from Google, saying that your account has been closed due to invalid clicking activity. In general, I will try to have an extremely bad opinion about blogs with Google ads.
Anything else from Google: Never used it, so I won't miss that.

I don't get it. Why don't you stop using adsense and use yahoo ads or chikita or something? Surely that would "show them" better then anything else.
Take what google gives you for free and avoid the products you don't like.

Ok, I think this will be hard month for you. I can imagine I can avoid everythink except google search - i think it's one and only really working around-globe searching engine.
In Czech republic we have google-like good search engine www.jyxo.cz, but it works only on czech pages.
I'm looking forward to see how long you lasted in this fight, maybe it'll be harder than quit smoking ;)
